When she was in the fourth grade, Sarah Cothron wrote a school paper describing that she wanted to be a missionary when she grew up. Now that she is an adult, serving God internationally is still a fervent desire. After a Passion Conference, she knew she needed to be equipped to serve God, and was encouraged to go to New Orleans. “New Orleans Baptist [Theological] Seminary is shaped toward missions.” Shortly after, she enrolled at Leavell College.
Now a junior, Sarah anticipates graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry and minors in missions and children’s ministry. Asked about what impact Leavell College has had on her life, Sarah stated, “It’s been very difficult, but necessary. Leavell College and living in New Orleans have prepared me for international missions. It has taught me patience, grace, and theological perspectives. It’s grown me in my relationship with the Lord more than anything.” She serves faithfully as a member of Refuge Church, a church plant in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans.
After graduating next spring, Sarah plans on pursuing a Master of Social Work degree through the partnership 稳定的十大彩票网站 has with University of Southern Mississippi. She has served on short-term missions in four countries so far, and plans on serving as a career missionary possibly in India. “God has given me a vision of ministry to create a safe haven for kids who have been sold into sex slavery,” Sarah noted, “and it might be more than just that.”
